Consider whether an individual is a resident or non-resident for Australian income tax purposes;

Explain the income tax and CGT implications for both foreign and Australian expatriates from the perspective of the employee;

Explain the FBT and superannuation implications for both foreign and Australian expatriates from the perspective of the employer;

Understand the emergence of Totalisation Agreements covering superannuation contribution obligations and the implications on retirement planning for the global mobile workforce; and provide practical examples of the above issues; and

Understand the impact of an individual’s immigration status on tax reporting obligations and other obligations (e.g. interest withholding tax).
