This 6 part New Manager series has been designed specifically for those who are new to the role of manager or team leader.

Managing people is one of the most important aspects of any organisation, yet few people excel in this role. Many are promoted, yet few have the insight, understanding or are equipped with right tools to meet this complex and challenging task.

As a manager you must understand how to lead, motivate, inspire, and encourage the people you work with. Without this, an already challenging task will be near impossible.

This LiveOne series is essential for newly appointed managers, or those who would like to enhance their essential people management skills.

The New Manager series consists of six interactive and highly informative sessions, which can be undertaken as a series or as individual sessions.

Session 1: Management Essentials – Identifying your Management Style

Congratulations! You’ve just been promoted to manager. The question is, do you have what it takes to be a great manager? Taking that step up from senior accountant to manager or team leader can be a very exciting one. But what skills do you need to manage your team and more importantly, how do you learn them?

Session 1 of the New Manager series looks at the foundations of management, including the role of manager, understanding your management style, the most common challenges you may face and how to effectively deal with them.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Explain the role of a manager
  • Describe your own managerial style
  • Identify the most common managerial mistakes
  • Know when to apply different managerial styles.
