Claire Wivell Plater

Claire is the managing director and owner of Gold Seal which provides legal, compliance and human resource services and training to AFS and Credit licensees. She is passionate about simplifying complex legal concepts and making them accessible for SME businesses

She spent the first 17 years of her career years at Phillips Fox before joining ING to work with its financial planning dealer groups and on mergers and acquisitions and strategy. In 2002 Claire co-founded Gold Seal, which has grown to become a leading compliance provider to the financial services industry.

Helen Parker

Helen Parker

Helen Parker (B. Psych. (Hons.), MBA.) is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Sydney and she also works as a Research Assistant at the Australian National University.  Helen holds a B. Psych (Hons – 1st class) from the University of Canberra and an MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management. Prior to her current position, she had a 20-year work history in senior sales and marketing positions across the IT, publishing and pharmaceutical sectors in both Australia and the UK.  In addition to building market leading positions for companies in Asia Pacific, she has extensive presentation and training experience, presenting at international conferences both here and abroad.  In 2006, she facilitated adult education courses at the Canberra Institute of Technology and more recently achieved a student satisfaction rating above 90% as a tutor in the School of Psychology.

Jason Phillips

Jason Phillips

Having established, operated and ultimately sold an accounting and financial advisory practice in 2003, Jason became the licensee of Macquarie Business Broking Services, a subsidiary of Macquarie Bank, specialising in the sale and valuation of financial planning practices. Jason has over 20 years, experience providing succession, tax, business improvement, valuation and due diligence advice to privately held businesses and professional practices. As the founder of JNP Capital, Jason brings a wealth of experience to tailoring solutions to meet client’s business divestment, valuation, merger and acquisition requirements.

Prior to establishing JNP Capital, Jason was employed in a number of senior finance and operational roles with the Genesys Group, a subsidiary of AXA Asia Pacific Holdings Limited. These roles included leading the Decision Support, Recruitment and Merger & Acquisition teams. During his time with Genesys, Jason developed an industry leading equity model for financial planning firms. He was a non-executive director on the board of Genesys’ equity investment firms and the Genesys nominee director on the board of related AXA investment subsidiaries providing leadership and strategic thinking to the growth initiatives and governance of these firms.

Jason holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Diploma of Financial Services. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Peter Hogan joined MLC Technical Services as a Senior Technical Manager in 2010. He is a visiting lecturer at Adelaide University’s International Centre of Financial Services and is on the Board of SPAA. For the past four years, Peter has worked in his own business as a specialist SMSF adviser. Prior to this, he was Head of Technical Services at Colonial First State Investments for seven years and held the same role at Macquarie Bank for five years. Peter holds a Bachelor of Law from Sydney University, a Diploma of Financial Planning from Deakin University and is accredited as a Specialist Superannuation Adviser by SPAA.
