This webinar aims to provide participants with knowledge and understanding of a whole school approach in primary school settings. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from three presenters, one of whom is a retired school principal and two speech pathologists. The webinar will cover an introduction to a whole school approach including the Response to Intervention (RtI) framework and the international and national contexts which underpin this approach. The Speech Pathology in Schools resource will be presented and the current WA education climate will be clarified. Finally, effective collaboration will be explained regarding education governance and guiding documents, pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning, evidence-based practice and understanding and using school-based data to inform service delivery.
What I will learn: By the end of this webinar, the aim is that you should be able to:
- Understand and gain confidence in the implementation of a whole school approach in a primary school
- Gain practical advice about the current WA education climate and effective collaboration
- Recognise the diversity of a Speech Pathologist's role in the education sector
- Apply this knowledge to your current or future roles in primary schools
Who should attend?
Registrants must be speech pathologists or speech pathology students.
This workshop is relevant for speech pathologists with an interest in developing their skills in working in primary schools using a whole school approach.
